WASEL Assists with Test Lifts of Drilling Rigs – Video
The test lift of a 360t offshore drilling rig took place in Erkelenz, Rhineland. Two identical rigs of this type have been assembled on the outside area of the HMH production facility since September last year.
The rigs are intended for an offshore project in Indonesia and must be completely assembled and tested before shipping.
The focus was on checking whether the rigs, which only have one central attachment point, hang exactly horizontally when lifted with a crane. This is important because the rigs will later be transported to the site in the Indonesian Sea using a floating crane.
For the test, a 600t crawler crane and various auxiliary cranes were used during assembly.
Numerous people in charge of the client followed the test lift with excitement.
The result was impressive: with a deviation of less than 0.1 degrees, the complex, 360t system hung horizontally as required.
The employees on site involved in the construction and assembly were correspondingly pleased.
