Wallenius SOL Connecting Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft to Vaasa

Lübeck has recently been connected to another Finnish port. The shipping company Wallenius SOL (WSAB) has included the facilities of the Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft (LHG) northwards in a circular route between Finland and Antwerp. Once a week, the ships “Fionia Sea” and “Jutlandia Sea” alternate at the Skandinavienkai terminal.

The two ships each come from northern Finland and initially call at the North Sea ports of Zeebrugge and Antwerp. On the return trip, they pick up cargo in Lübeck and then head for the Finnish port of Vaasa. The main load is semitrailers. General cargo and heavy cargo also play a role.

In addition, WSAB uses three “T-Class” ships in the pool – “MS Tavastland”, “MS Thuleland” and “MS Tundraland” – for two weekly calls to the Schlutup and Nordlandkai terminals. The ships there mostly unload forest products.

LHG managing director Sebastian Jürgens: “This strengthens our partnership with WSAB and at the same time our route network. We are now connected to a total of nine Finnish ports; No other Baltic port can imitate us so quickly. “
