Wagenborg Nedlift take delivery of New Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1 in Hengelo

What a festive day it was for the Wagenborg Nedlift team last week! On a beautiful spring day, the new flagship in the crane fleet, the LTM 1650-8.1, was officially handed over at their site in Hengelo.

The delivery of this 700t powerhouse is part of the sustainable partnership program Wagenborg and Liebherr embarked on in 2021, in which both companies joined forces to regenerate and increase the sustainability of the Wagenborg Nedlift crane fleet. Liebherr is supplying some 25 new cranes to replace older machines from Wagenborg Nedlift’s fleet under this partnership program. Old lifting and drive technology is thus replaced by new technology, resulting in a considerable CO2 and nitrogen reduction. The regeneration of the crane fleet is thus entirely in line with Wagenborg’s sustainability strategy, which defines specific sustainability targets up to the year 2050.

In terms of mast length, the 8-axle newcomer is certainly a champion: the crane is equipped with an 80m main boom. The 54m main boom and 110m luffing jib configuration even allows for a hook height of no less than 152m! Therefore, the LTM 1650-8.1 is truly a powerful, versatile and flexibly deployable acquisition for Wagenborg Nedlift.

The LTM 1650-8.1 is a machine from Liebherr’s top class models. First of all, the crane is equipped with Liebherr’s state-of-the-art technologies for mobile cranes, such as VarioBallast®, a system for adjusting the counterweight radius. VarioBase®, Liebherr’s variable outrigger system, is also installed on the new crane. Of course, it also features EcoDrive technology, making the crane considerably more comfortable and quieter by reducing its engine speed.

Under the watchful eye of a delegation of the directors of Liebherr Nederland and the Board of Directors of Royal Wagenborg, Brian Geerdink and Wouter Smit, the permanent operator team of the new flagship, received the keys of “their” new crane. Both have earned their spurs as crane operators, but were visibly impressed by this official act. The honking of the new acquisition that followed could be heard for miles around!

A mobile crane of this capacity never comes on its own. At least two trailers with counterweight and lifting tools complete the convoy. Nooteboom Trailers took care of the delivery of two modern 7-axle semi-trailers, which are fitted with an extra-long loading floor and fully equipped as per Wagenborg Nedlift’s specifications.

This Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1 with Nooteboom counterweight trailers represents top class heavy transport and lifting!
