Wagenborg Nedlift Delivers and Lifts CO₂ Capture installation – Video

Twence is building a large scale CO₂ capture installation in Hengelo, Overijssel, the Netherlands. The installation will capture 100,000t of CO₂ from flue gasses every year. This innovative sustainability project will make an important contribution to the reduction of CO₂ Emissions in the region that will make the chain more sustainable.

The construction of the new CO2 capture installation has already started in early 2023. But the project only recently made headlines. At that time, the giant parts for the new installation from Estonia were transported by Wagenborg Nedlift right through Hengelo. With an item length of up to 43 metres, this was a challenging job for the Wagenborg Nedlift transport team.

The ladders and platforms were then mounted on the process columns and last week the time had come: the giant parts could be put in place.

The ‘grande dame’ from the fleet of Wagenborg Nedlift was deployed for this lifting operation: their 700t Liebherr mobile crane. A Grove 300t assisted in tilting the columns from a horizontal to a vertical position and the transport to under the crane hook was executed with SPMTs.

It resulted in an artful interplay that went very smoothly thanks to the excellent preparation.

Both the client and the manufacturer of the columns expressed their appreciation for the craftsmanship and the pleasure with which the transport and hoisting team carried out the work. And that is exactly what Wagenborg Nedlift is all about!

“This fine example of teamwork is, literally and figuratively, a milestone in the construction of Twence’s large-scale CO2 capture installation,”said Ilse Jansink, the Communications Manager at Twence.

Local Radio/TV Station for eastern Netherlands, RTV Oost, captured this special transport and lifting operation beautifully on camera, displayed below – with thanks.
