Wagenborg Fleet Started to Bunker Low Sulphur Compliant Fuel as from 1 November

The vast majority of the Wagenborg fleet has already switched to very low sulphur fuel, VLSFO, two months before the deadline for the sulphur cap which comes into force on 1 Janaury 2020.

The new low sulphur fuel regulation of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) requires a 0,5% global sulphur cap for marine fuels to be in force. All sea-going vessels worldwide will have to comply, using fuel with a sulphur content of no more than 0,50% compared to the current limit of 3,50%, and reduce their sulphur emissions by 85%.

Sulphur 2020 is arguably the most impactful environmental regulation to date in ocean transportation and has far-reaching technical, commercial and operational consequences. It’s widely acknowledged that the regulations have significant consequences for both ship owners and their customers.
