Wagenborg and SCA Sign Wood, Pulp and Paper Contract to US and Mediterranean
After a tender process, Wagenborg Shipping and SCA have signed a contract for shipping services, regarding sea traffic volumes of wood, pulp and paper from the Baltic to the US East Coast and multiple destinations the Mediterranean.
This contract is a renewal of an existing contract and can be considered as proof for the excellent performance of the various geared and gearless vessels. The geared A-type and T-type vessels will continue the Trans-Atlantic paper trade and the gearless vessels up to 14.000 dwt will service the trade to southern Europe and North Africa. Bengt Meuller, managing director for Wagenborg Shipping in Sweden: “The challenge of transporting SCA’s forestry-based cargoes is largely in the massive volumes and the amount of space required. Our extensive fleet is therefore an excellent match. SCA is a great fit for our future and the aim is to continue our collaboration for a long time to come.”
Wagenborg has known the forest industry since 1898 and has grown together with many major forest companies. We realize the forest industry is highly competitive and an optimal supply chain is therefore crucial, including sea transport. It is all about zero-damage, reliability and flexibility. Preventing damage to cargo during loading, sea voyage and discharging, has our highest priority.
Our LOLO shipping concept ‘Lifts On’ and ‘Lifts Off’ forest products safe and efficient. Thanks to our custom-made equipment, we are able to handle high-quality cargo with care. Along with box-shaped holds, tween decks and ship cranes, our ice-class vessels can go practically anywhere, anytime. With real-time data we optimize sailing routes, minimize CO2 output and avoid bad weather. This reduces the risk of damage and makes timing even more reliable.
The combination of a versatile, modern and environmentally-friendly fleet, a strong focus on cost-efficiency and smart shipping enables SCA to optimize their crucial logistical needs for her premium forest products in a safe and sustainable way for the years to come.
