Victoria International Container Terminal Commissions Largest STS Cranes in Australia
Victoria International Container Terminal has announced the that their 71m long quay line extension has been completed and is now fully operational, resulting in a total length of 735m (excluding mooring dolphins). This expansion significantly enhances our operational capabilities.
At the same time two new neo-panamax STS cranes, Ship to Shore cranes, with an outreach of 22 containers across have also been commissioned. These are the largest port equipment items currently in use in Australia.
With the expanded quay line capacity and new equipment, the terminal is now able to service larger vessels, particularly the neo-Panamax ships with capacities of up to 14,000 TEUs, and introduce economies of scale across the supply chain. All these improvements represent VICT’s commitment to delivering the best service to their customers.
VICT extend their genuine gratitude to Port of Melbourne, Symal Group constructions, Fitzgerald Constructions Australia Pty Ltd for the outstanding work accomplished.
