Van der Vlist puts new terminal at Port of Moerdijk in operation + video
Van der Vlist has announced that their new, privately owned terminal at Port of Moerdijk in the Netherlands is operational as of January.
The new terminal, a multimodal hub where waterway, road and rail come together, supports Van der Vlist’s vision of a multimodal sustainable supply chain, and their growing activities.
Van der Vlist’s personnel moved in just before Christmas, their giant gantry crane has been installed, one side of dredging is finished so ships can be handled, and the first phase of installing their own rail on their quay has been completed.
This first phase consists of 400 meters of rail, which can be extended to 850 meters in subsequent phases. Additional to this 400 metres of rail, a work pit has been installed, in order to safely and efficiently carry out any modification tasks. The rail connection will be used for various activities for rail vehicle manufacturers and for loading/unloading company and intermodal trains, possibly with connections via other modalities. The focus is on multimodal transport of project cargo.
At the terminal, products from different parts of the world come together in a central location to be processed and distributed just-in-time. As a 4PL service provider, Van der Vlist says they can provide customers the complete logistics service. Source: Van der Vlist Group
