Van der Vlist Delivers Components for 45 Complete Wind Turbines in 540 Special Transports to the DMO Project

Since August 2020, Van der Vlist has transported a total of 45 complete wind turbines, divided into 540 special transports.

Each turbine consisted of six tower sections. The larger tower parts were shipped by barge from Emden to Haren. In total, 92 river barges were used. The largest tower section has a diameter of 5 meters.

The road transport from Haren to Drentse Monden and Oostermoer was very challenging. Because of the transport height of 5.30 meters, it was often necessary to take a shortcut to avoid viaducts. In addition, a bypass, engineered in-house, was constructed in Germany to avoid a roundabout. In the Netherlands, the roundabouts were modified so that they could take them through the middle.

The blades arrived by ship at their terminal in Moerdijk.

This project was a collaboration between our departments Van der Vlist Projecten B.V., Van der Vlist Terminal Moerdijk B.V. and Van der Vlist Modulair Transport B.V.
