United Heavy Lift’s Weather Routing with Syroco Has Positive Effect
United Heavy Lift (UHL) has started implementing Syroco’s weather routing platform across 11 vessels in its fleet. After a successful pilot phase on three vessels, UHL has decided to expand the use of the platform, which leverages digital twins and machine learning to optimize routes and reduce fuel consumption.
The platform helps crews plan more efficient voyages by providing real-time updates on weather conditions and route adjustments. It also takes into account the specific characteristics of each vessel and cargo type. UHL’s crews have found the platform to be a useful tool for improving decision-making and increasing fuel efficiency during operations.
Lars zum Felde, Director Fleet Management, UHL Crewing said, “During the pilot phase, we were able to significantly improve decision making, increase accuracy of performance predictions, and measure a reduction in fuel consumption.”
This deployment is part of UHL’s continued efforts to enhance operational efficiency and reduce the environmental footprint of its maritime services. By integrating Syroco’s platform, UHL is taking steps toward more sustainable and cost-effective operations, while also improving the safety and performance of its vessels. The use of advanced weather routing technology aligns with UHL’s broader goals of modernizing its fleet and staying ahead in the competitive heavy lift shipping sector.
