TWD on the Thames
A 100m long concrete culvert has been immersed in the Thames, right in the center of London. This vital part of London’s new Super Sewer had to be floated-out underneath the historic Blackfriars Bridge.
This challenging operation for Tideway was prepared to perfection by the joint venture on the central section Ferrovial Construction/ Laing O’Rourke (FLO JV). TWD’s marine engineers performed an extensive third party (CATIII) check of the float-out and immersion operation. All critical steps of the proposed operation were analysed, confirming the structural integrity of the 3.700t structure.
