Triple Mode Trailer from Faymonville for Transportes Machado
Transportes Machado from Portugal is specialized in the heavy lifting and transportation sector.
To extend their capabilities on- and off-road, the specialists recently took delivery of a new 6-axle ModulMAX combination with gooseneck and two propelled axle lines, whose drive system can be used in three different modes.
The assist mode offers a towed combination extra traction on demand once the speed drops under a certain limit, when driving uphill, for example.
From a certain speed on or when no extra traction is required, the drive axles switch to trailer mode, in which they can simply freewheel and be pulled at up to 80 km/h.
Finally, the self-propelled mode allows this ModulMAX combination with 17.5¨ twin tyres and a basic width of 3,000 mm to be used completely on its own, without a tractor unit. The necessary power in assist or self-propelled mode is supplied by a Power Pack Unit.
This new equipment fits perfectly into Machado’s field of activity, as it allows to combine heavy on-road transports of industrial components – such as transformers, generators or presses – with their positioning and installation on-site using their specialized gantries, pick-and-carry cranes etc.
Moreover, it is complementary with the existing Faymonville semi-trailers of their fleet, consisting of a 4-axle MultiMAX low loader and a 3-axle MegaMAX lowbed with extra-low telescopic flatbed.
A detailed instruction session by Faymonville specialists provided the Machado team with all the necessary know-how to put their new modular trailer to work!
