Transport of a Cruise Vessel from Kozle to Lake Windermere by Van der Vlist

Van der Vlist were proud to be involved in the transport of the Swift, a new Day Cruise Vessel for Windermere Lake Cruises.

The launch of the Swift was reported here on HeavyLiftNews.com on 13 December 2019.

The 34-metre long vessel was transported over 15 truckloads from Kozle in Poland to Lake Windermere in the UK on behalf of Damen Shipyards Group, the manufacturer.

The vessel was built in sections prepared at the Damen shipyard in Kozle, taking care to be suitable for road transport . It was important to take into account both the height of the cargo for transport through mainland Europe as well as width of the pieces and the running height of the trailers due to the narrow roads on the final approach to the delivery site.

Van der Vlist arranged for Duddon Crane Hire to provide the crane for lifting the sections off the their trailers in the car park area being used for the assembly of the Swift.

The project was over seen by Van der Vlist Dutch office and supported by their Polish office to supply the road transport and the UK office to provide the route surveys, permits, escort vehicles as well as arranging cranes for offloading.

Damen have produced a video of the arrival, offload and assembly at Windermere which is linked below.
