The offshore wind industry has consistently set new records for offshore construction and installation.
DEME Group’s Tideway vessel, ‘Living Stone’, recently bagged a new one for the longest AC export cable for the offshore export cable totalling 467km, or the approximate distance from Amsterdam to Hamburg.
Ørsted’s Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm has its cable land fall at Horseshoe Point, Marshchapel on the Lincolnshire coast south of Grimsby.
The installation scope included laying export cables from three different offshore substations located up to 120 km offshore to the shore via a Reactive Compensation Station, as well as the installation of two interlink cables.
The ‘Living Stone’ has a 10,000t cable capacity with a dual-lane cable system.
