Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT) have announced that Stuart Thornton is to join the OHT team on 11 February 2019 as Business Development and Tendering Manager.
Stuart has 13 years’ management experience in the renewables sector. Before coming to OHT, Stuart was UK Business Development Manager for Fred. Olsen Windcarrier, and prior to that UK Manager for Fred. Olsen United and Global Wind Service. Stuart also serves as an elected Director of EEEGR (The East of England Energy Group).
“I strongly believe that the offshore wind industry is one of the essential elements in ensuring the sustainability of our planet and the health and prosperity of its inhabitants. I am certain that by joining the OHT team, I will be maximizing my contribution to the continued success of this innovative and vital sector.
For me, the real ‘game-changer’ in the OHT strategy is the Alfa Lift project and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of it. When delivered in Q4 2020, the vessel of Alfa Lift design will be the largest and most innovative custom-designed (for offshore wind) vessel in the industry. But a vessel is only as good as its crew and management team. As such I am equally excited to be joining such a dynamic, experienced, talented and welcoming group of people as the OHT team in Oslo. I will remain based in the UK with frequent travel abroad and I look forward to discussing Alfa Lift and her capabilities with all our key clients in the coming months.”
In 2018, OHT entered into a shipbuilding contract for building an Alfa Lift design vessel designed to take on full Transport & Installation (T&I) scopes for foundations for offshore windfarms. Stuart’s knowledge and experience in the renewable sector will further strengthen our organisation and help to build a market leading transport and installation solution for an ever expanding, essential sector.
The multi-functional, game changing Alfa Lift be at the heart of Stuart’s plans in the future.
