Stoddart Crane Hire Completes Lift with Millimetres Clearance Over the Christmas Holiday

During their valued clients Christmas shutdown Stoddart Crane Hire undertook an interesting job exchanging an old zinc tank used in the galvanising process for a new one.

The old tank weighed just over 30t, due to the build up of zinc over the years, but Stoddart’s Liebherr LTM 1150-5.3 was up to the task with just 29t of ballast.

A special beam built specifically to lift these tanks was used due to the internal height of the building being just under 9m and the tank being just over 4m tall.

A total lift weight of 32.25t was calculated and the cranes gross capacity was 40.1t.

Autocad and our dynamic CAD block of this crane proved invaluable showing that we only had 400mm clearance above the existing tank and the trailer.

This can be  seem from the photographs the CAD drawings match the photos.

All lifts were under Full Contract Lift terms and conditions.
