Special Operation with Steel, Precision and Power at Holland Shipyards Group
At the Holland Shipyards Group yard in Vlissingen it was all about a special operation where steel, precision and power were all aligened in the successful transportation and assembly of critical steelwork for the upgrade of the heavy lift installation vessel ‘Svanen’ for Van Oord. They had carefully brought over more than 700t of steel together at a specially prepared site.

Months of engineering, planning, and collaboration resulted in this operation, overcoming immense logistical challenges due to the sheer scale and precision required. The site, initially unqualified for the task due to tight dimensional tolerances, was transformed with a sand level-bed and temporary structures to support the top-gantry of ‘Svanen’.

This operation not only showcases their expertise in large steel constructions but also highlights their capability to innovate and execute complex logistics in shipbuilding and beyond. A special thanks to the teams at Holland Shipyards Group and all of the partners involved, including Mammoet.

They will now move into the next phase of welding and further assembly. Look out for more updates as they continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in marine engineering and construction.
