Sönke Jordt Takes Delivery of New Liebherr LTM 1100-5.3 Mobile Crane

The first LTM 1100-5.3 mobile crane has been added to the crane fleet of Sönke Jordt Maschinen- und Schwertransport GmbH & CO. KG. After the LTM 1110-5.2, Liebherr has now delivered the second crane model with the new LICCON3 control to a customer. The crane’s compact design and high mobility due to flexible axle loads were the main reasons for the purchase.

The company based in Ratekau, 16km North of Lübeck, took delivery of a Liebherr LTM 1100-5.3 mobile crane equipped with the new LICCON3 crane control. Liebherr had unveiled this crane at Bauma 2022 – the first 5-axle crane that can be driven with a width of just 2.55m. “When we saw the crane at the trade fair, we knew that this new 100-tonner belongs in our crane fleet,” reports Tim Jordt, the company’s second-generation Managing Director.

When it comes to road transport compactness plays an important role operating in the northern German region.  Tim Jordt continues, “The mobile crane is narrow, light and characterised by low axle loads – and therefore ideal for our purposes.” The LTM 1100-5.3 can carry up to 16.9t of ballast with a 12t axle load on public roads, but can also be operated with an axle load of just 9t by reducing the ballast.

The crane lives up to its slogan “Master of all Roads” and its advantages became obvious as soon as the vehicle was transferred from Ehingen to Ratekau. As a result, Jordt benefits from simplified road regulations and both fuel and time savings, as fewer detours are necessary thanks to reduced bridge loads.

“Leading up to the handover, we were also very excited about the new design of the crane in our corporate colours. Whether it’s the paintwork, tyre pressures, remote control key, navigation system or LED lights – we are very impressed with our new addition,” adds Managing Director Sönke Jordt. With its new paintwork, new driver’s cab and crane operator’s cab, the LTM 1100-5.3 joins 12 other mobile cranes in the company’s fleet, all of them from Liebherr.

Sönke Jordt Maschinen- und Schwertransport GmbH & CO. KG has been relying on Liebherr cranes for twelve years. In addition to traditional crane hire and assembly and dismantling work in the industrial sector, Jordt also offers towing and transport services as well as its own workshop service.

“When we saw the crane at the trade fair, we knew that this new 100-tonner belongs in our crane fleet,” reports Tim Jordt,
