After the collision between the Star Centurion and the Pertamina tanker, Antea, on Sunday 13 January the pipelay vessel Star Cenurion capsized and sank within a matter of hours. The pipelayer has setlled on a sand bank and is laying on it’s side.
Although the collision occurred in Indonesian waters the ship’s crew were rescued by vessels coordinated by the Information Fusion Center (IFC), a multinational maritime security body, in Singapore.
It has now been confirmed that the salvage operations of the Star Centurion will be conducted by Smit Salvage.
