Skylift 3000 at Seawork
The Skylift 3000 was in Southampton this week for Seawork 2019. The Jack-up platform with a 250t sheerleg crane had recently finished a lock gate installation in the UK. Both the crane and the Skylift 3000 are designed and built by Ravestein in the Netherlands. The lock gates were also designed and built by Ravestein.
What makes the jack-up platform exceptional is that when versions without the crane are jacked-up on the sea bed the platform can sink to a depth sufficient to allow a vessel or barge to be floated over the platform and lifted dry by jacking up the platform. The vessel can then be dry docked for repair or survey anywhere. If a pontoon or barge is lifted out of the water it can be rolled off by SPMT on to a dockside flush to the platform deck.
