Second Night for Corendon on the Move with Mammoet

For the second night this week the Corendon 747 was on the move to its final resting place next to the Corendon Hotel near Schiphol Airport. Last night, Friday night, was a shorter journey than the journey over the fields on Tuesday night (see our news report here). The journey last night Mammoet had to take the 747  across a normally very busy commuter highway around the South East of Amsterdam.

Preparation for the motorway crossing, including the removal of the traffic railings in the centre and along the side of the motorway and bridging the ditches on either side, was completed and the aircraft was ready close at hand on the Mammoet SPMTs.

The traffic had been streamed on to alternative routes allowing only a few vehicles to pass through until about 1.45 on Saturday morning when the traffic was halted to allow the passage of the 747 over the road. The aircraft cleared the road after 45 minutes at 2.30. The hazards on this section included the gradient from the farm land up to the motorway and two deep ditches to traverse, one on each side of the road. A second successful night of moving, one more to go tonight, Saturday.
