Sarens Transfer 153t Generator from Rail to Road in Minsk

Sarens was commissioned to overload a 153t generator stator unit at the Minsk CHP plant in Minsk, Belarus

The team had to overload the generator stator unit from the railway platform onto the trailer in a confined space. Due to the narrow unloading area working with a big crane was not possible. The team decided to tandem lift the generator start unit with the help of 300t cranes with full ballast (92.5t). Their lifting capacity was sufficient for all necessary maneuvers.

The following equipment was used. It was delivered and set up within a few hours:

  • Grove GMK6300L
  • Grove GMK6300L-1 with full ballast

Multiple lifts were planned and supervised with extreme care. The first crane drove in and installed in the design position followed by the trailer. The second crane was then maneuvered to the lifting position due to limited space and the generator stator unit was lifted in tandem by the two cranes and overloaded from the railway platform onto the trailer.

According to the Crane Operator, Polegoshko Denis “It was an interesting job and we managed to perform the lift safely and swiftly and the client was satisfied with our work as always.”
