SAL Transports Ravenna Modules

Multipurpose shipping line SAL Heavy Lift has transported several gas modules from Italy to UAE.

The over-dimensional consignment included two gas dehydration unit modules, weighing 447 tonnes each, and one gas sweetening unit module, weighing 608 tonnes. The cargo was loaded in Ravenna, Italy, and delivered to Mussafah port, Abu Dhabi.

“The port of loading and the port of discharge both have extremely low water depths. For this reason most of the weather and tween decks had to be temporarily stored ashore to ensure the limited draft of the vessel,” a spokesperson for SAL said.

A subsidiary of German shipping firm Harren, SAL Heavy Lift operates a fleet of 16 heavy-lift vessels with combined crane capacities up to 2,000 tonnes.
