Safe Lifting Europe B.V. Assist Scaldis with HLV Gulliver’s 3,100t Heaviest Ever Lift

This week, Scaldis successfully removed the P6-A topside, with a total weight of 3,100 tons, the heaviest lift ever performed by the HLV Gulliver.

Safe Lifting supported this operation by providing engineering expertise, along with the supply, and preparation of all lifting equipment.

Their contribution included everything from the hook to the topside, featuring:

  • two 2,000-ton modular spreaders,
  • one 1,000-ton modular spreader,
  • six 1,250-ton wide body shackles,
  • and a large quantity of steel wire slings, grommets.

A staggering 3100 tonnes were lifted and transported in the hooks to Vlissingen for a further sustainable disposal and re-use of the materials.

Although the end of the offshore season is coming into sight, Scaldis SMC still has the removal of three jackets and one topside planned before the winterbreak.
