When a Xiamen Air B737-800 skidded off the runway at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the Philippines on August 16, Royal Cargo came to the rescue.

Heavy rain made the ground soft, so the 48-ton (43.5-tonne), 40m-long aircraft had become stuck in the grassy area where it had come to rest.

In an urgent recovery operation, Royal Cargo used its 500-tonne capacity Liebherr LTM-1500 crane to lift and transfer the B737-800 onto a Scheuerle/Kamag 12-line multi-axle trailer, which took it to a ramp near the airport’s Terminal 3 where it was unloaded.

Manila-headquartered Royal Cargo is a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC).
