Rolldock Storm Passes Under the Bridge
Rolldock Storm passing under the Bridge of the Americas, Panama City, with the tailor made air draught! Photographs – Rolldock
Date 20 November 2018
How to pass the Bridge of the Americas, Panama City, on the Pacific Ocean side of the Panama Canal with a vessel full of completely assembled cranes? Simple! Just submerge the vessel, like the RollDock Storm did.
The vessel was on a voyage from Rostock to Puerto Quetzal in Guatamala and onward to Manzanillo in Mexico. After completing the Panama Canal transit on her voyage from Rostock (Germany) to Manzanillo (Mexico), the vessel submerged up to 7.5 meters in front of the Miraflores locks. Ready to pass the Bridge of the Americas, with a small space left between top of crane mast and bridge.
The tall cargo that was needing this attention were 3 Liebherr port Cranes bound for Yilport, Guatamala. and Manzanillo, Mexico
