Qube Heavy Lift Starts on MacIntyre Wind Farm Project for ACCIONA Energía
Qube Heavy Lift has commenced work on the discharge and transportation of ACCIONA Energía’s MacIntyre Wind Farm Precinct componentry. This 1,026-MW project is located southwest of Warwick in Queensland and once complete will be one of the largest onshore wind farms in the world today.
The site will include 180 individual 5.7 MW wind turbines with a tip height of up to 235m. The new wind farm is forecast to generate electricity for the equivalent of powering 700,000 households. Construction has commenced and the wind farm is expected to be fully operational in 2024.
Qube Heavy Lift is managing the end-to-end logistics services for the wind farm project from discharge, through to the complex transportation and on-site lift management.
The first wind blades and turbines arrived at Australian Amalgamated Terminals in the Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd. The complex discharge process involves the Qube Ports, Logistics, and Bulk teams working in tandem to provide an integrated logistics service. These wind farm components will now make the 220km journey to the construction site.
Qube is pleased to be working on the MacIntyre Wind Farm Precinct with ACCIONA Energía and supporting the Queensland Government’s decarbonisation strategy.
