

Pearl River Tunnel Section Floatation Test Success
The first section of the Pearl River Tunnel in the city of Kim Guo-dong has been successfully tested in a floatation test. The section weighed more than 14,000t and 77m long was transported to the site by semi-submersible barge. The section will be installed in September
Guangzhou International Innovation City Kim Guo-dong Tunnel is the main route connecting the university town on both sides of the Pearl River with the South Bank of Guangzhou International Science and Technology Innovation City starting area. When completed the tunnel will have a length of 2.71km with four lanes of traffic in both directions.
The tunnel is expected to be completed by the end of 2020 at a cost of 2.2 billion yuan.
