Jan De Nul has signed a contract to build the Northwester 2 offshore windfarm in Belgium.
The deal to construct the windfarm, which will be the seventh built off the Belgian coast, marks the third time Parkwind, part of Colruyt group, has turned to Jan De Nul.
Jan De Nul will be responsible for the design, construction and installation of 23 foundations, transport and installation of the cables for the project and the transportation and installation of the turbines.
Northwester 2 is 48 km off the coast of Belgium and will use the largest and most powerful wind turbines currently available on the market, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind’s V164-9.5MW, which has a rotor diameter of 164 m.
Jan De Nul Group will start work on Northwester 2 in June 2019. The EPCI contract will see Jan De Nul design the foundations and acquire and install the foundations, cables and wind turbines.
Northwester 2 is due to be fully operational by 2020.
