New Suurhof Bridge Transits Rotterdam at Night en route for Maasvlakte – Video

Travelling over night to avoid road traffic congestion the new Suurhofbrug left the fabrication yard quayside of Hollandia Infra in Krimpen aan den IJssel bound for the A15 crossing of the Hartelkanaal near Oostvoorne where it will provide relief for the existing bridge during renovation operations.

The arch bridge of measures 200 m long, 20 m wide and more than 40 m high passed the Van Brienenoord A16 motor way bridge over the river Maas, and the Hef, the Koninginnebrug and the Erasmus bridges crossing the same river in the centre of Rotterdam.

Hollandia Infra is realizing the new temporary Suurhoff bridge in the A15 near Oostvoorne from the contractor consortium STIPT, together with DuraVermeer,Besix and MobilisTBI, on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat .

Rijkwaterstaat provided a live stream showing the 1st part of the transport (from Sunday 9 May to Monday 10 May 2021, through Rotterdam) and the entire day of the installation (Friday evening / night 14 May and Saturday 15 May 2021).  This is the second video hereunder and lasts over 6 hours !

The Suurhoff Bridge on the A15, is the gateway to the Maasvlakte, and as such is a vital connection for the Rotterdam port area. The existing bridge will undergo renovation now with the temporary bridge next to it, so that the burden of traffic , mostly freight, will be divided over the 2 bridges in the coming years.
