The operator of the second largest port in Ireland, Shannon Foynes Port Company (SFPC), recently received a new mobile harbour crane (MHC), which was conveyed fully assembled to the port of Foynes by the heavylift vessel “Papenburg” from Liebherr’s factory in Rostock (Germany).
The sailing time to Foynes was six days.
On arrival in Foynes, the crane was simply driven off the vessel and was ready for work the same day. The new crane, which will primarily handle bulk products and project cargo at the port, has a grab curve of 75 t. SFPC opted for a new Liebherr LHM 420 MHC after a competitive tendering process. (kd)
