

MV Svenja on JGC Corporation’s Basrah Refinery Upgrading Project with Jumbo-SAL Alliance
As reported on www.heavyliftnews.com on 17 March this year the JGC Corporation’s Basrah Refinery Upgrading Project will see the Jumbo-SAL-Alliance undertake the transportation of a total of 450,000 frts of cargo for its client.
Jumbo Kinetic, with two 1,500 t cranes, and SAL Heavy Lift’s MV Svenja, with two 1,000 t cranes will be dedicated to the project for the duration of the transportation scope.
On 7 May, the SAL vessel MV Svenja, completed the loading of two bullet tanks for LPG storage, measuring 81.5m x 8.4m x 10m and weighing approximately 706.5t each, as well as three other structural components.
By planning well in advance and involving all stakeholders in a timely manner, the loading process was very efficient, taking only 3 hours per bullet tank.

After securing the cargo, the vessel left the South Korean port of Ulsan on 9 May and is now en route to Umm Qasr in the Persian Gulf for discharge.
