Van der Vlist Iberia recently completed the transport of an industrial wood dryer. The cargo, with a total weight of 227m/t, was split into 11 sections and shipped from Bilbao port to Leutkirch im Allgäu, Germany. A challenging ‘all-inclusive’ project for which we arranged every step of the transport, including personal surveillance.
The sections were shipped directly from Bilbao port into their own terminal in Moerdijk (Netherlands). Once transshipped, the journey continued by barge to Plochingen, Germany. The sections were placed on elephant’s feet on quayside before the final part of the transport was undertaken by road. Their creativity was challenged during the last part of the transport due to roadworks and bridge restrictions on our route. Because of the widths of the sections, varying between 4 and 7,20 meters, their technicians needed to find a suitable route to the delivery site. Furthermore, special permits needed to be granted and traffic signs had to be temporarily removed. All transport was escorted by German Police.
Because of meticulous planning and a smooth transit, Van der Vlist have already been awarded for the next project. The company can look back on a challenging but successfully executed project where they were able to make full use of their group with many years of experience in every step of the complete logistical process.
