Mingyang’s OceanX Floating Wind Turbine platform reaches final destination
Mingyang’s OceanX, the world’s largest single-capacity floating wind turbine platform, has reached its final destination at the Qingzhou IV Offshore Wind Farm in Yangjiang, Gangdong, China.
OceanX features a dual-turbine ‘V’ shaped platform with a total capacity of 16.6 MW, capable of producing 54 million kWh annually, and is designed for deep water applications, Mingyang says.
The floating wind turbine was launched in Guangzhou, China last month and left recently. OceanX overall towing design draft is 5.5m, the total platform drainage is about 12,000 tonnes. To ensure safe passage, it has carefully adjusted its massive blades to minimize the platform’s aerial profile. During the travel, the platform had to face the intricate challenges of the Pearl River Delta’s waterways.
After an elaborate voyage of more than 191 nautical miles and over 50 hours, it arrived at its landmark destination in Yangjiang. Source & Images: Mingyang
