MAXIKraft Team’s Mobile Crane Installs a Climbing Crane on Wind Turbine Tower – Video

As the size of the wind turbines supplying our energy increases, the more sophisticated the technology to build them becomes.

The internationally active wind turbine manufacturer Enercon from Ostfriesland is now using its own climbing cranes for the construction of these huge installations. climbing up the side of the tower up to the nacelle.

Mobile cranes are nevertheless needed for the construction of such turbines – as was recently the case at the old lignite dump Barbarahöhe at the Zschornewitz wind farm near Gräfenhainichen. The MAXIKraft team was there with an eight-axle 700t  Liebherr LTM1650 -8.1 crane. It was necessary to support the construction of the climbing crane and the wind turbine!

Gradually, the MAXIKraft colleagues were able to lift the parts of the LCC-2 climbing crane, weighing up to 80t, from the trucks and positioned them perfectly on the wind turbine’s 80m mast. It worked perfectly!

This unique climbing crane was then able to assemble the remaining parts of the wind giant. The new turbines have a hub height of 166m and are expected to be in operation, adding to the output of the wind farm from later this year!

A further four more wind turbines are planned, meaning that the MAXIKraft team will be happy to be there again!
