MAXIKraft and AutoEhring Deliver a Rare KÖF for Restauration by LeipzigerDampfKultour
The Kleinlok Caroline is a rare specimen on German railways. A so-called KÖF is a small locomotive with an diesel engine and liquid transmission. Only a handful of this type were ever built, and almost all models have since been scrapped.
“Caroline”, however, is now in the Ostwerkstatt in Leipzig thanks to the power of MAXIKraft Kranlogistik Sachsen from Chemnitz and their partner AutoEhring, a specialist in rail vehicle transports with very special low-loaders and trailers.
They had picked up the former Reichsbahn locomotive from the old Klostermansfeld station and transported it by the low-loader to Leipzig where it had to be put back on rails.
For this purpose, the MAXIKraft colleagues were on duty on Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße with a new Grove GMK5150L -1 and partial ballast.
They hooked up the old 16t locomotive with a spreader beam and strong chains, lifting and turning in the air and very carefully placing it on the track with a radius of 12m and a total weight of 20.5t.
Now the LeipzigerDampfKultour will restore Caroline. This young company is a professional in the refurbishment, preservation and marketing of historic rail vehicles – and wants to make the legacy of the old railway come alive.
