Mammoet Success in 5th Annual Speakers Event in Canada
On July 2nd Mammoet held their fifth annual Speakers Event in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Every year, Mammoet aims to bring together industry leaders to spark discussion about timely and relevant topics. This year’s topic of Pipelines, Power, and Politics focused on Canada’s changing energy landscape achieved this goal.
To explore this topic, Mammoet hosted keynote speaker Rex Murphy, along with David Yager, Vivian Krause and Chief Cadmus Delorme of the Cowessess First Nation. The topic aimed to examine current regulations and how they have drastically affected the industry. The interactive panel session thus created discussion around how the industry is dealing with adversity to minimize the impact.
“David Yager’s lead off message was very informative and a great reminder that the world needs energy and that Alberta’s oil and gas industry is indeed “hard to kill”. Vivian Krause followed with a very insightful discussion on activism against Alberta’s oil and gas industry, and Chief Cadmus Delorme gave a very “from-the-heart” discussion on how his Cowessess First Nation has embraced and benefitted from renewable energy creation. Rex Murphy wrapped up the afternoon with his witty and thought provoking take on how Canada should be actively supporting Alberta’s energy industry and its hard working employees. Rex had everyone in stitches with his unique humor and poetic flair. We couldn’t be more pleased with the turnout of this year’s event!” Tom MacLeod, Vice President Commercial – Mammoet Canada Western.
“Mammoet’s conference was different from many in that the topic was truly open. There was a serious range of different speakers, each offering a real distinct perspective, and further there wasn’t a sense that some matters were “off limits” which is the case with too many gatherings; especially on topics as (currently) fraught as pipelines and politics, this was exceptional,” said Rex Murphy.
Furthermore, Mark Griffiths, Senior Principal of Stantec Consulting Ltd., Saskatchewan commented “In my mind, this is by far the best event that I attend in either Alberta or Saskatchewan throughout the year, and I attend many. In my view Mammoet has demonstrated a great sense of responsibility and a great sense of leadership in hosting these events.”
