Liebherr’s LR 12500-1.0 Crawler Crane Debut Job

To drive forward the energy transition, huge wind turbines are needed at sea to harvest powerful sea winds and supply green electricity for the mainland.

The dimensions of modern offshore wind turbines are now enormous. So are the challenges for handling their gigantic components.

The first Liebherr LR 12500-1.0 crawler crane to be delivered, including a 7.5m wide HighPerformanceBoom, had its first job in the port of Rostock.

The completely newly developed crane had to lift offshore wind farm foundation pillars, almost 90m long and weighing 1,360t , into the water. For this job it was supported by an LR 1800-1.0

The first two LR 12500-1.0 machines off the production belt have been ordered by Sarens and Mammoet.
