Liebherrs for Romanian wind farm

28 June, 2018

Romanian energy company CEZ Group has taken delivery of two Liebherr cranes, a 600 tonne LR 1600/2 crawler crane and a 130 tonne LTM 1130-5.1 All Terrain crane.

The LR 1600/2 was ordered in the SL3F wind farm configuration with a 108 metre main boom and 12 metre heavy duty jib. The crane can lift its maximum capacity at a radius of 11 metres. The five axle LTM 1130-5.1 features a 60 metre main boom plus a 33 metre bi-fold swing away extension. Both cranes will be used for maintenance and repair work at the company’s wind farm in Constanta near the Black Sea coast, the largest onshore wind farm in Europe.

Senior manager Jan Jires said: “To simplify the maintenance work process, it was important for us to buy cranes which feature the very latest technology. That is why we decided to buy the two Liebherr cranes. We also appreciate the support available from the local Liebherr team. High safety standards in all our processes are enormously important to us. Liebherr has an outstanding reputation in this respect as well.”
