In our last report of the cargo operations incident concerning 2 Liebherr Harbour cranes we reported that the “Hebo Lift 9” was due to leave Rotterdam on Wednesday 19 February on a 5 day voyage to Rostock.
Unfortunately, almost a week later the weather has not permitted the Hebo Lift 9 to leave Rotterdam and the shear-legs crane is still in Rotterdam.
The “Jumbo Vision” underwent repairs in Rostock to the damage incurred in the incident after turning the vessel around in order that the work could be carried out by workers from the dockside. The vessel has since returned to sea and resumed her sailing schedule.
The Baltic Taucherei oil spill response vessel “Flunder” started pumping oil from the cranes on 5 February and the oil barrier placed by the vessel in harbour was opened only to allow the first cargo vessel through before closing again on the same day. “Flunder” is still on location as is the “Baltic Lift” shear-legs crane from the same company.
