Liebherr Container Cranes Wins Russian Order
Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd have won an order for 2 rail mounted gantry (RMG) cranes to be delivered to a freight terminal near Moscow, Russia.
The cranes will be manufactured at Liebherr’s Irish facility in Killarney and will be similar to the RMG’s pictured in the featured title photograph working at the port of Felixstowe, England. They will have a span of 32 m, a lift height over rail of 12.5 m and cantilevers of 8 m and 9.7 m respectively. The machines have a safe working load of 45 tonnes and feature a rotating machinery trolley. From Killarney the cranes will be shipped in large preassembled components to St Petersburg, from where they will travel by road for assembly and commissioning on site.
The freight terminal at Freight Village Vorsino, situated near Moscow, has access to road, rail and air infrastructure, and includes a high-performance intermodal terminal. The two new Liebherr RMGs form part of the expansion plans for the intermodal terminal which will see the capacity rise to over 500,000 TEU per annum.
