LGH Invests in Levelling Devices for Improved Safety in UK Crane Sector

LGH, one of the UK’s leading lifting equipment hire companies, has invested in a number of Ganterud L20 yokes that use both new and well tested technology to level loads more effectively and safely.

With modular housing set to become an increasing plank of the Government’s new housing strategy, LGH is keen to bring this radio-controlled, high precision levelling device to the rental sector. It believes the timing could not have been better either given the tremendous pressure construction businesses are under with reduced labour levels.

The Ganterud L20 yoke can handle both light and heavy objects up to 20 tons and reduce the installation time of prefabricated buildings by up to 30%, eliminate potential damage and improve safety by using a radio-controlled alignment of the chain. They operate with an internal standard battery, which makes them independent of external power sources. The battery can typically be recharged overnight and with normal use it can last up to five days ensuring optimum performance for users.

Edwin Boelens, European Sales Director at LGH, said: “We’ve experience of the prefabricated housing in the EU as it is standard practice over there and with the UK Government’s stated objectives in MMC (Modern Methods of Construction), we can see the direction of travel here and wanted to invest today in this innovative time-saving solution”.

He added “Currently modular housing construction in the UK accounts for around 10% of the market but the three factors that will drive its growth, namely affordability, sustainability and availability are now aligned. We’re looking to seize these opportunities with companies at the cutting edge of modern methods of construction”.
