Kraftdragarna AB, based in Västerås, about 90km west of Stockholm, was commissioned to carry out the heaviest ever road transport through the city of Stockholm.
The dimensions of the load, a 343t transformer, were:
- 10m long
- 4m wide
- 5m high
The transformer arrived by barge from Norrköping at Hammarby quay in Stockholm.
From the barge landing Kraftdragarna AB transported the transformer by road to the electricity sub-station in Högdalen over night from 11 to the 16 September.
Such a transport requires flawless planning and extraordinary execution.
Overhead cables, traffic signs, bridges and restrictions on the proposed route all need to be planned long before the transport.
