KASSECKER – Prebeck Partnership Installs Rail Bridge for Deutsche Bahn
To ensure an efficient infrastructure, Deutsche Bahn (DB) has renewed the railway bridge over the Blaulach between Kirchentellinsfurt and Tübingen. To do this, DB replaced the existing steel truss bridge with a new structure, an investment of around 8 million euros.
The lifting of this 350t steel truss bridge over the Blaulach at was an impressive event. Together a consortium of KASSECKER – Prebeck had been commissioned by the DB InfraGO for the construction of the new railway bridge
First, the 34m long structure was brought into position with a crawler crane from crane contractor Helling GmbH before it was lifted into its final position.
For a year, KASSECKER and their partner Prebeck have busy preparing everything for this moment.
Before the new construction could be installed the old steel superstructure had to be excavated and part of the sandstone abutments demolished. In 2023, the bored pile foundations, up to 17m long, were built and two auxiliary bridges were installed.
This year, after the production of the abutments and edge beams as precast concrete elements, preparations for the final installation started in a closure break of six weeks.
This has been a great project that required a lot of teamwork! Thanks to everyone involved and their colleagues on site!
