Jumbo-SAL Alliance Transport 1850t Shiploader Between Australian Ports

Together with their client on the Shiploader and Berth Replacement (SABR) Project the Jumbo-SAL Alliance has been planning the complete engineering, transport and logistics of this project for almost two years.

As you can see, this is a sizeable shiploader weighing in at 1850t and measuring 76m high with the boom up. For the lift in the Port of Henderson, Western Australia, the Jumbo Kinetic’s 2 x 1,500t mastcranes,
combinable to 3,000t cranes used special Dyneema slings to make the dual lift as safe and secure as possible.

Once secured onboard, the team sailed the shiploader to Hay Point Coal Terminal in Queensland, Australia for discharge. To ensure clearance with the berth structure the shiploader could only be offloaded on a high tide. Sea state was another consideration and the combination of these factors made for an interesting challenge.

Nothing is too challenging for this crew and as always, with effective cooperation between partners, their skilled and flexible crew and consistent backup support from their onshore engineers and experienced office team, the project was completed safely.

Well done to all involved!
