The two Scaldis offshore heavy lift cranes Gulliver and Rambiz are mobilizing for a major lifting project in the Bristol Channel.
Gulliver arrived at an offshore position close to Hinkley Point C last week and Rambiz sailed under tow by Multratug 3 from Vlissingen yesterday with an ETA at Avonmouth next Monday, 18 July.
In June 2021 the two heavy lift vessels carried out a simultaneous and synchronised 5000t lift off the Dutch coast near Scheveningen.
As was reported by HeavyLiftNews.com on this link the purpose of their presence then was “extensive training, real scale testing and measuring program for a future civil marine project in shallow, but challenging, waters. The trial took place after many hours of engineering and 3D simulation.”
The photographs of the lift exercise released by Scaldis last year are republished in this news article.
