Heerema’s Sleipnir Completes 13,000t Offshore Converter Platform Lift for RWE Offshore Wind GmbH

RWE Offshore Wind GmbH reports that they have has now installed the HVDC Offshore Converter Platform (OCP) at their 1.4 GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, after completing the largest lift of its kind to date in offshore wind history.
RWE contracted GE Vernova for the OCP to be built at the Singapore state owned Seatrium. When completed it was transported by GPO HeavyLift’s GPO Sapphire from where the 13,000t topside was lifted and installed by Heerema Marine Contractors’ heavy lift crane vessel Sleipnir.
The platform is situated at the heart of the offshore wind farm. Its successful installation marks a key milestone for keeping the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm on track for full operation in 2026.
