Heerema Marine Contractors wins Transport & Installation contract for Baltyk II and III Offshore Wind Farms

Heerema Marine Contractors has been awarded significant transport and installation contracts for the Baltyk II and Baltyk III Offshore Wind Farms.

The Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 projects are approximately 27 km and 40 km from the port of Leba in Poland. The projects are being developed by MFW Baltyk II Sp. z.o.o. and MFW Baltyk III Sp. z.o.o., each a joint venture project owned 50% by Equinor and 50% by Polenergia.

Transport & Installation

The scope of the contracts includes the transportation and installation of 100 monopiles and transition pieces, sourced from European fabrication yards and installed in the Baltic Sea. Additionally, Heerema will handle the transportation and installation of 2 offshore substation jackets and 2 topsides.

Heerema will utilize its heavy lift vessel, Thialf, for these critical operations. The Thialf’s advanced capabilities and motion compensated gripper frame make it ideally suited for the complex and demanding tasks associated with these large-scale offshore wind projects.

“We are extremely honored to have been selected for these pivotal projects in the Baltic Sea,” said Jeroen van Oosten, Chief Commercial Officer of Heerema Marine Contractors. “These contracts underscore our commitment to supporting the global energy transition and enhancing Poland’s energy security.”

The Baltyk II & III wind farms are expected to have a combined generation capacity of 1440 MW, which will supply electricity to the equivalent of more than two million households.
