Gyda Topside Removed and Transported to Aker Solutions Yard in Stord by Allseas’ Pioneering Spirit

Preparations are underway to transfer the Gyda platform to the Aker Solutions yard in Stord for disposal.

Pioneering Spirit arrived in Norway on May 24 hours after removing the 18,400t former drilling and production facility from the southern North Sea.

Another safe and seamless piece of engineering made possible by Allseas’ revolutionary motion compensation and single-lift systems.

Allseas has lifted more than 65,000t of North Sea facilities since March 2022. The Pioneering Spirit is faster, safer and less risk to the environment when compared to conventional lift vessels

2022 promises to be a record year for our passionate and creative engineers. Dozens of offshore lifts, ranging from light bridges to entire jackets and topsides, each with its own unique challenges and solutions.

They include the massive Gyda jacket, which Allseas is booked to remove later this summer.

Gyda is a field in the southern part of the Norwegian sector in the North Sea, between the Ula and Ekofisk fields. The field was developed with a combined drilling, accommodation and processing facility supported by a steel jacket standing in 66m water depth.

The platform started producing in 1990; a decommissioning plan was submitted in 2016.
