Grounded SAL Ship Now alongside in Port Of Ogdensburg in New York State

Reports from the Port of Ogdensburg on the St Lawrence Seaway the most northerly port in New York State indicate that the SAL vessel IMKE has successfully been re-floated, assisted by a tug, after grounding on the afternoon of Saturday, 8 August. The IMKE, registered in Malta, was carrying wind turbine blades. Montreal had been the last port of call before Ogdensburg .

The IMKE is a type 116 Multi-purpose dry cargo ship in the SAL fleet, built in 2010.

It also reported that the vessel is alongside in port and apparently has damage to the stern.

The SAL Type 116 vessel HILKE, sister ship to the IMKE,  arrived at the Port of Ogdensburg, on Monday, May 26, with a cargo of wind turbine components for a project in Lewis County. This vessel was the 1st vessel to call on the port during the 2020 Great Lakes – St. Lawrence Seaway shipping season.
